It’s finally time for the Sawdust again! Get there at 10am, throw a pot, dash over to the crazy tatoo guy, make your way back over quickly to the snack area…hopefully that girl that makes the fabulouso balloon crowns will be there somewhere…then try to eat $30 worth of dippin dots in 18 minutes…drop kids in the craft booth where they can do art supervised for a good twenty minutes if you’re lucky! I am saving for the ceramic deep dish pie plate…

Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific is hosting the Ninth Annual Shakespeare Festival, for free, on the lawn, Saturdays and Sundays. We’re going!

Ah, the County Fair!

This is the one I have been hearing about from my good friend, and have been missing every year. Because of the early in the season time frame (closing day is July 4th), it is a good bet it won’t be 100 degrees…Tuesday is Kids under 12 are free day…that’s 12 bucks you can spend on cotton candy…I mean roasted corn.

Join the kids book club, Thursdays at 3:30pm. Nothing beats the neighborhood branch activities…I remember the gold stars for every book at the Dana Branch Summer reading club when I was a kid…and again - free. We have such a bounty of simple pleasures at our finger tips…slow down, read a book, smell the roses. We can thank the new Mayor for the extended hours. He kept his promise!

Another very laid back activity…haven’t tried it yet, but it gets rave reviews from those who have. Drop in sessions allow for the laziest of summer scheduling. I can’t wait to check it out!

That famous ship Global Harmony is sailing again this year! After last year, I am starting to think the performances get better as the week goes on, but it’s all in fun! In addition to the music and art, there is the museum and free rehearsals inside the actual bowl! I haven’t figured out which days they rehearse, they say some mornings…fear of committment?

Here is something that has been on my list of things to do for three years! Looks like a great place to hang!! There has got to be an inside scoop to making the best of a day in Redondo Beach…I’ll keep you posted…

Long Beach Museum of Art, Mola, LACMA, Rancho Los Cerritos, just to name a few. Many of the most awesome places are right here in our own town. It looks like Fridays are the day for museums in LA county!
